PARALLEL WORLDS
An artist who specializes in the form of Abstract Expressionism, Elena Ksanti composed her series Parallel Worlds, depicting
the various complexities of our world and the many contrasts therein. Allowing paint to fall naturally onto the canvas, Ksanti
gives life to an array of emotions in their movement and placement, exploring themes that include: the birth and meaning of life,
evolution, spirituality, self-reflection, and energy.
Parallel Worlds peers deep into the eyes of the artist, reflecting the assorted aspects of her essence and experiences. The series
presents a reality that is not finished or determined but rather composed of several layers that fall into each other, attempting to
understand the unknown answers of life.
Like a volcano, Ksanti's creativity lies dormant in periods of extended meditation followed by spontaneous moments of prompt
execution and inspiration. Parallel Worlds is an amalgamation of this volcanic spirit. The visual dichotomies between light and
darkness, read as an atavistic clash between yin and yang, and is a recurring theme in the artist's research. Many works consist
of light and color the lie atop off a dark surface or vice versa.
"The principle of Yin and Yang (or yin-yang) presents a world of inseparable and contradictory opposites and competing and
complementary forces. In my series Parallel Worlds, I found myself inspired by the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin-Yang,
depicting elements and pairs like the fight and flight, female and male, dark and light, heaven and hell - so on and so forth.
Thus, bringing these sentiments within my artworks for individual resonance and interpretation."

PORTAL
The series Portal by Elena Ksanti represents a doorway into a world of infinite possibilities. In this three-piece series, the artist touches on topics of mystery, resolution, acceptance, and innate being, allowing observers an individual outlook on which entrance or path to take.
The self-titled artwork, Portal, is just that: an entrance into the consciousness of self a place we all go when we close our eyes and truly see the world through the lens of our current reality. What is a mystery but a riddle one tries to solve; an enigma that dangles truths like bait on a hook. Portal is the path to areas not yet ventured, ones we want to return, and gates we've long since locked away. Equally captivating, frightening, and exciting.
Utilizing an array of blues and indigos, pillowy-whites, and vibrant magentas, the artist gradually merges colors into deep plums and blacks, taking us further into the alluring unknown.
The piece, Beginning of Love, speaks to the acceptance of true love Affection, absent of limitations or conditions. A simple yet complex feeling, love is often challenging to place into words; more so, it is an indescribable feeling. Understanding this, Artist Elena Ksanti created the abstraction Beginning of Love to depict the collection of feelings frequently associated with love at its inception An intense sensation of joy; Butterflies in the stomach; A deep connection; A inexpressible bond. This period of passion can be blinding and pure.
Combining delicate shades of lilac, rose, and tangerine, with more intensified colors and soothing whites, represents the inherent passion of love in all its facets. The forms produced in the artwork have fluid flares emphasizing its journey.
Offering different shapes, forms, colors, and designs, Harmony in the Heart speaks to truly loving oneself in all our self imposed imperfections. The distinctions in this work of art are prominent, yet somehow all such elements work together in amicability. How can it be that we love our neighbors if we lack harmony within our own heart? Once we reach this state, we can uncover a world of understanding, empathy, compassion, love, etc., which not only will reside within ourselves but possess the ability to apply to those around us.
